Frequently Asked Questions
What is energy healing and where does it come from?
Both Reiki and Sekhem are ancient energy healing modalities that are thousands of years old. They are both channelled through the practitioners upper chakras and the energyy is then directed through the practitioners hands. The practitioner is specially trained in these modalities and initiated into these ancient lineages. The energy that is channelled is Universal Life Force Energy, otherwise known as Prana, Chi and Qi. It's the same energy that exists everywhere, permeating all existences as the life force for all living things.

Is energy healing suitable for everyone?
Reiki energy healing is considered a safe, gentle and non-invasive holistic therapy suitable for most people, of all ages and pregnant women. It is not advised for clients with a history of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar. It's also not advised for clients who have an active fever or pacemakers.
Sekhem energy healing is considered a more advanced form of energy healing, and is not advised for clients with a history of psychosis, schizophrenia or bipolar and is also not advised for clients with pacemakers fitted.
What does an energy healing treatment feel like?
Clients usually describe receiving Reiki and Sekhem as feeling deeply relaxing and restorative. Some clients report feeling a gentle pulsing or tingling sensation, hot, cold and heat oscillating in an area during the treatment. Clients report feeling rejuvenated, calmer, peaceful, lighter with a greater sense of mental clarity and emotional weight lifted after the session.

How is an energy healing treatment given?
The treatment starts with a brief consultation to confirm medical history and the client's intention for the session. During a Reiki and Sekhem healing treatment, the client remains fully clothed. The practitioner then channels the energy and lays their hands on the client's 9 main chakra points (energetic centres) across their body, starting at the feet, and finishing the treatment at the top of the head.

Do I have to be a certain religion to receive energy healing?
Energy healing is non-religious and is not tied to any belief system or religious affiliations, so it doesn't matter what faith you are or what name you give to your Creator. Energy healing is practised with non-judgemental compassion and people from all faiths and backgrounds are welcome.
Is there any scientific evidence supporting the use of energy healing?
Yes, energy healing modalities such as Reiki has been studied by over 130 scientific experiments to study it's effectiveness. The Centre for Reiki Research has published the findings from many Reiki research groups, noting it's particular effectiveness for significantly lowering pain, stress, anxiety, sadness, burn-out and depression related symptoms.
Reiki is recommended by the NHS as a complementary therapy and is used by NHS services in conjunction with conventional allopathic treatments.
